한국대학의 철학전공 교육현황 및 제언
Philosophy Major Education in Korean Universities: Current Status and Proposals
이 글은 세 가지 목표를 추구한다. 첫째 목표는 한국 내에 있는 철학전공의 현황을 파악하는 것이다. 전공으로서의 철학교육의 현황을 파악하기 위해 철학과의 창설과 철학과의 수가 어떻게 감소했는지 그리고 현재 지역적으로 어떻게 분포했는지 살펴볼 것이다. 이 외에 입학정원과 재학생 수 및 입학경쟁률을 검토하고 전국 철학과의 교과과정을 검토할 것이다. 여기에 덧붙여 대학원 현황을 파악할 것이다. 철학과 감소 요인과 입학정원의 감소, 재학생 수 등을 파악함으로써 철학전공이 직면하고 있는 어려움이 무엇인지 확인할 수 있을 것이다. 입학경쟁률에 대한 이해는 철학전공이 어떤 기회를 가지고 있는가를 생각하게 할 수 있다. 교과과정에 대한 논의는 특성화에 대한 생각을 점검하는 계기를 제공할 것이다. 대학원 현황 파악은 학문적 전통을 유지하기 위해 고민해야 할 문제를 확인하는 기회가 될 것이다. 두 번째 목표는 시대의 변화에 따른 요구와 철학전공의 힘에 대해서 살펴보는 것이다. 인공지능의 변화가 우리를 압도하고 있는 상황에서 우리에게 어떤 위협과 기회가 되는가를 살펴보고 철학을 전공하는 것이 가지는 잠재력에 대해 살펴볼 것이다. 세 번째 목표는 철학전공을 위한 몇 가지 교육 방향을 제시하는 것이다. 시대의 요구와 철학의 힘을 고려하여 몇 가지 방향을 제안할 것이다. 전통을 유지하는 것과 문제해결 중심의 교과과정 구성 그리고 융합 과정 등에 대해 제시할 것이다.
This paper pursues three objectives. The first is to examine the current state of philosophy majors in Korea. In order to understand the status of philosophy education as a major, this study investigates the establishment of philosophy departments, the decline in their numbers, and their present regional distribution. In addition, it reviews admission quotas, student enrollment figures, and admission competition rates, as well as the curricula of philosophy departments. Furthermore, it examines the current state of graduate programs. By identifying the factors behind the reduction in philosophy departments, as well as decreases in admission quotas and student enrollment, this study aims to clarify the difficulties faced by philosophy as a major. An understanding of admission competition rates can also shed light on the opportunities available to philosophy majors. Discussion of curricula provides an opportunity to reflect on strategies for specialization. An examination of graduate programs offers insight into the challenges that must be addressed to sustain academic traditions. The second objective is to explore the demands of a changing era and the strengths of philosophy as a field of study. In a context where developments in artificial intelligence are overwhelming us, this paper considers both the threats and opportunities they present, and examines the potential of majoring in philosophy. The third objective is to propose several educational directions for philosophy majors. Taking into account the demands of the times and the strengths of philosophy, this paper suggests directions such as maintaining academic traditions, developing problem-solving-oriented curricula, and promoting interdisciplinary programs.
