사다리 은유에 관한 해석: 플라톤과 니체와 비트겐슈타인의 관점에서
Interpretation of the Ladder Metapho: From The Perspectives of Plato, Nietzsche, and Wittgenstein
이 글의 주된 목적은 플라톤과 니체와 비트겐슈타인의 철학적 담론에서 각자 다른 방식으로 사다리 은유를 사용하고 있다는 점을 드러내고 그들의 사다리 은유의 동질성과 이질성을 밝히는 데 있다. 이를 위해 Ⅱ와 Ⅲ에서는 플라톤이 국가에서 논의한 세 가지 비유와 이데아 및 향연에 나오는 ‘에로스의 사다리’에 관한 이야기를 기술한다. Ⅳ에서는 니체가 언급한 밧줄 사다리 혹은 ‘생명의 사다리’와 위버멘쉬를 서술한다. Ⅴ에서는 비트겐슈타인이 말한 ‘던져 버려야 할 사다리’와 철학을 상술한다. 플라톤과 니체와 비트겐슈타인의 철학에서 사용된 사다리 은유들을 비교한 결과로써 우리는 플라톤의 철학적 입장을 ‘초자연주의’로, 니체와 후기 비트겐슈타인의 철학적 관점을 ‘자연주의’로 분류한다.
The main purpose of this study is to reveal similarities and differences among Plato, Nietzsche, and Wittgenstein’s ladder metaphors by showing that each philosopher employs the metaphor in a distinct manner within his philosophical discourse. To this end, in II and III, Plato describes the three parables and Idea discussed in Politeia and the story of the ‘ladder of Eros’ in Symposion. In Chapter Ⅳ, the rope ladder or ‘ladder of life’ and the Übermensch presented by Nietzsche are described. In Part V, we elaborate on Wittgenstein’s ‘ladder to be thrown away’ and philosophy. Based on a comparative analysis of the ladder metaphors used in the philosophies of Plato, Nietzsche, and Wittgenstein, this study classifies Plato’s philosophical position as ‘super-naturalism,’ while categorizing Nietzsche’s and Wittgenstein’s perspectives as ‘naturalism.’
