결정(結晶)의 시간, 크로노스(Cronos)의 시간: 들뢰즈 후기 시간론 연구
Time of Crystal, Time of Cronus – A Study on the Concept of Time in Deleuze’s Later Works
들뢰즈 사유 무대의 중앙에서 잠시 비껴나 있던 것처럼 보이는 시간이라는 주제는 시네마2. 시간-이미지에서 다시 호출된다. 저작이 영화라는 새로운 실험현장 속에서 개진하는 시간 이론은 무엇보다 풍부한 철학적 함의를 지닌다. 이는 우선, 한편으로는 이른 시기 들뢰즈가 구축했던 시간 개념의 핵심들이 다시 취해지고, 다른 한편으로는 1980년대 완숙한 들뢰즈의 사유가 시간론에 비추는 새로운 통찰들이 종합되기 때문이다. 본고의 첫 번째 목표는 저작의 시간 개념이 이전의 성취들을 통합하면서 또한 혁신들을 도입하는 상세한 방식을 들뢰즈가 베르그손과 시몽동 독해 속에서 주조하는 결정(cristal) 개념을 중심으로 탐구하는 것에 있다. 또한, 그 성찰의 끝에서 들뢰즈가 내놓는 핵심 규정, 즉 시간은 ‘자기-촉발(auto-affection)’로서 정의되고 그것이 주체성의 구조이자 형식을 이룬다는 정식화는, 들뢰즈의 시간론과 주체론을 철학사적 맥락 안에서 사유할 계기를 제공한다. 본고는 이러한 규정이 어떻게 칸트 독해 안에서 성립하면서도 칸트에 대한 전복을 내포하게 되는지를 검토하고, 또한 현대철학 속 논의들과 교차시키며 그 구체적 의미를 규정한다.
The theme of time, which seemed to have stepped aside from the center of Gilles Deleuze’s philosophy, is once again brought to the fore in Cinema 2: The Time-Image. The conception of time that Deleuze develops in this work, through cinema as a new experimental field, bears profound philosophical significance. On the one hand, it re-engages the core elements of the concept of time which Deleuze had elaborated in his earlier works; on the other hand, it synthesizes new insights cast by the philosopher’s fully matured thought of the 1980s. Thus, the first aim of this paper is to examine in detail how this work’s conception of time integrates earlier achievements while simultaneously introducing innovations, focusing on the concept of crystal that Deleuze forges through his readings of Henri Bergson and Gilbert Simondon. Furthermore, the key determination Deleuze ultimately presents – that time is defined as self-affection, and that time as such constitutes the very structure of subjectivity – provides an occasion to reconsider his conception of time and subjectivity within the broader field of philosophy. This paper will investigate how such a determination is established through his reading of Kant, while also enacting an internal subversion of Kant, and will clarify the precise significance of this determination in dialogue with contemporary philosophy.
