인류세와 욕망 그리고 윤리적 삶
The Anthropocene, Desire and Ethical Life
이 글은 인류세(anthropocene)라는 지질시대의 명칭이 이 세계에 등장한 배경에 대한 관심에서 출발한다. 이러한 관심은 다음과 같이 몇 가지 논의로 확장될 것이다. 먼저 우리는 인류세의 개념을 구체적으로 이해하기 위해 그 개념의 형성과 관련된 지구의 다양한 현상들을 살펴볼 것이다. 더불어 그러한 현상들을 가져온 근본적인 원인이 인간의 욕망에 있다고 보고 그 욕망이 투영된 대표적인 주의로서 자본주의와 소비주의를 비판적으로 검토할 것이다. 마지막으로 인류세가 오늘날 우리에게 의미하는 것과 요청하는 것이 무엇인지 생각해보고자 한다. 결론에서는 인류세라는 지질학적 시대의 명칭이 도입된 것은 아니지만 그 개념의 등장은 인류가 미친 인간의 영향에 대한 반성을 불러일으킨다고 주장할 것이다. 동시에 지구의 적은 우리 내부에 있으며 인간의 윤리적 삶에 대한 고민과 생활세계에서의 구체적 실천 없이는 지구의 위기를 벗어날 수 없을 것이라고 주장할 것이다.
This paper will deal with the concept of the Anthropocene and its meaning. First, I will look at various phenomena related to the formation of the concept of the Anthropocene in order to understand it in detail. In addition, I will search for the fundamental cause of such phenomena by critically examining capitalism and consumerism as representative forms of ideology that reflect that desire. Lastly, I would like to consider what the Anthropocene means and demands of us today. In conclusion, I will argue that although geologists have rejected the geological designation by the Anthropocene era, the emergence of the concept provokes reflection on the human impact on Mankind. At the same time, I will argue that the enemy of the Earth is within us and that we will not be able to escape the Earth’s crisis without thinking about human ethical life and specific practice.
