초록

본고는 질 들뢰즈(Gilles Deleuze)의 앙리 베르그손(Henri Bergson) 독해에서 한 가지 문제를 이끌어내는 것에서 출발한다. 그것은 1956년의 두 논문, 그 중에서도 대표적으로 「베르그손 철학에서 차이의 개념」에서 들뢰즈가 베르그손 독해를 통해 무엇보다 차이의 개념화를 이끌어냈던 것과 달리, 1968년 출간된 차이와 반복에서는 베르그손이 왜인지 차이의 철학의 전경에는 배치되지 못하고 있다는 것이다. 가장 상징적으로 베르그손은 시간의 세 가지 종합과 함께 구분되는 세 가지 반복의 형태 중, ‘물질적 반복’에 해당하는 첫 번째 종합을 설명하고, 그리고 무엇보다 아직 차이의 역량에 해당하는 ‘발산’과 ‘탈중심화’와 만나지 못한 단조로운 ‘정신적 반복’에 해당하는 두 번째 종합을 대변하는 철학자로서 배치되고, 등장한다. 이 두 사실들의 불연속성을 설명한다는 목표 하에 본고는 첫째로 「베르그손 철학에서 차이의 개념」의 문헌 연구를 통해 들뢰즈가 베르그손주의로부터 이끌어낸 결론들이 정확히 무엇인지를 탐구하며, 둘째로, 이를 토대로 하여 차이와 반복의 존재론적 건축구조물 안에서 베르그손주의가 점하게 되는 위치의 합당성 여부를 고찰한다. 이와 동시에 본고는 들뢰즈의 초기 사유에서 차이와 반복 개념이 상호적 관계 안에서 진화하고 구축되는 과정의 역동성을 그의 베르그손주의를 중심으로 드러낼 것이다.

This paper begins by drawing out a problem from Gilles Deleuze’s reading of Henri Bergson. The problem is that, unlike in the two essays published in 1956, most notably “Bergson’s Conception of Difference” in which Deleuze derived the conceptualization of Difference through his interpretation of Bergson, Bergson is not placed in the foreground of the philosophy of difference in Difference and Repetition, published in 1968. Most symbolically, Bergson is positioned and appears as a philosopher who explains, among the three forms of repetition that are distinguished along with the three syntheses of time, the first synthesis which corresponds to ‘material repetition’ and above all, who represents the second synthesis, which corresponds to the monotonous ‘spiritual repetition’ that has not yet embraced ‘divergence’ and ‘decentralization’, the power of difference. With the goal of explaining the discontinuity of these two facts, this paper first investigates what exactly the conclusions that Deleuze draws from his Bergsonism are through a literature study of “Bergson’s Conception of Difference”, and second, based on this, examines whether the position that Bergsonism occupies within the architectural structure of ontology in Difference and Repetition is appropriate and fair. At the same time, this paper will reveal the dynamics of the process in which the concepts of difference and repetition evolve and are constructed in a mutual relationship in Deleuze’s early thought, focusing on his Bergsonism.
